Resources
How care usually starts in Cambridge
Drawn from real cases in this area. Details are generalized and nothing identifying is included — we do not publish information about the people we care for.
Three towns pretending to be one city
Cambridge is Galt, Preston and Hespeler, and for care purposes they remain three separate places with three separate cores and real distance between them. Galt has stone century homes built into steep banks above the Grand, with staircases that are original and streets that are unforgiving in winter. Preston and Hespeler have their own older cores and postwar bungalows. Families frequently assume that being in Cambridge means being nearby, and then discover that Hespeler to south Galt is a proper drive.
A stone house above the Grand
Steps up from the street, more steps inside, and a woman who had been there since 1971. Care at six hours a day handled both flights and she stayed put.
A daughter in Hespeler, a father in Galt
Close on paper, twenty-five minutes in practice, twice a day. Five hours of care daily replaced the running and improved what he was actually getting.
Home from Cambridge Memorial
Discharged after a hip repair into a two-storey in Preston with the bathroom upstairs. Care started the same day at eight hours and stepped down over three weeks.
What this looks like in practice
Most families in Cambridge start with four to eight hours of care a day. Care usually begins within a day of the first call, and the same day where someone is coming out of hospital — typically Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
We support people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s, ALS, paraplegia and reduced mobility, people recovering from a stroke or a fall, and older adults who simply need help to manage the day. In almost every case above the outcome was the same: the person stayed in their own home and received their care there.
Where in Cambridge we provide care
We provide care throughout Cambridge, including Galt, Preston, Hespeler, Blair, West Galt, East Galt, Southwood, Clemens Mills and Fiddlesticks. If your street is not named here, it is almost certainly still covered — call and ask.
If any of this sounds like your situation, call 1-888-507-6236 — any time, day or night — or book a free care consultation.
