Two very different kinds of PSW work
Most PSWs have a strong preference. Tell us yours and we will place you accordingly rather than filling whatever gap is open.

What we need from you
- A PSW certificate recognized in Ontario — for example NACC, or the National Association of Certified Personal Support Workers.
- At least one solid year of related clinical experience.
- CPR for Health Care Provider (HCP).
- Canadian criminal record clearance, including vulnerable sector screening.
- Medical clearance.
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.

What working here is actually like
You pick your shifts
Long or short, days, nights or weekends, on your phone. You are not called at home to be talked into a shift you did not want.
You are oriented first
Site-specific orientation before your first shift, so you are not walking in cold and learning the layout during a call bell.
Someone answers at 3am
If something goes wrong on a night shift, a coordinator picks up. That is the whole point of the desk.
Paid in-services
Ongoing training, reflective workshops, and First Aid and CPR education.
Employee, not contractor
WSIB coverage, payroll deductions, and EI and CPP contributions made on your behalf.

What you are entitled to, and what we are required to tell you
Worth knowing before you apply anywhere, not only here.
- You are an employee, not a contractor. Payroll deductions, WSIB coverage, EI and CPP contributions, and Employment Standards Act entitlements including vacation and public holiday pay.
- You never pay us a fee. Our fees are paid by the employer or the client. If any agency asks you for money to be placed, walk away.
- Postings must state expected pay. Since 1 January 2026, publicly advertised job postings in Ontario must include the expected compensation or a range, must say whether the posting is for an existing vacancy, and must disclose if artificial intelligence is used to screen applicants.
- Canadian experience cannot be required. Ontario prohibits Canadian experience requirements in publicly advertised job postings and their application forms.
- You get an answer after an interview. Employers must tell interviewed applicants whether a hiring decision was made, within 45 days of the last interview.
Questions PSWs ask us
Do I have to take every shift I am offered?
No. You pick what works. We would rather you take the shifts you can genuinely commit to than accept everything and cancel.
How much work can I get?
It depends on your availability, your location and what you are qualified for. Broad availability and a willingness to travel a little further gets you more. We will be honest at the interview about what we can realistically offer you.
What is the pay?
Rates depend on the setting, the shift and the region, and are stated in the posting and in your offer — Ontario requires that. Ask the recruiter directly; you will get a straight answer rather than a range that means nothing.
Can I work with the same client each week?
Yes, and we build toward it. Continuity is better for the client and better for you.
I trained outside Canada. Can I apply?
Yes. Canadian experience cannot be required in an Ontario job posting, and we do not require it. What we do need is a PSW certificate recognized in Ontario and proof of eligibility to work here.
How long does it take to start?
It depends on how quickly your documents come together — usually the vulnerable sector check is the slowest part. Start it early.
